...

So, that was weird.

I honestly had no idea that my polyvore & blogspot were connected.
Did not mean to publish my sets. Sorry.

Nails nails nails

Hey guys, sorry for not posting in a while.  I've been wanting to post full-outfit pics but I feel weird asking my roommate to take pictures of me because she's not really much of a photographer and she already keeps telling me that I'm a narcissist.

Anyway, Here is a picture of my gaudy nails I just did up with jewel-stickers and shimmery nailpolish yesterday to kick off the latter half of my first week of my second semester of school :)

1/12/13, 1/13/13

I have these pretty darn cute pictures of me from my webcam yesterday :3

I wore this bindi I got from the bookstore earlier, which is mostly a fashion thing... but I also saw this really cool movie on india recently and I really liked it's description of the purpose of wearing the third eye in hindu culture-  to help you see what your eyes alone can not.  I also had some belly bindi on but took it off when I had to put a sweater on for the hookah bar.

Bragging

Got badgal lash mascara at Ulta today :)
Everyone was very nice and helpful...
Plus, I've coveted this mascara for so long!!!

1/8/13

So, after last night I realized that lookbook.nu is fucking stupid, because they flat-out deleted my only entry because it didn't show my feet (I cropped them out cause they I was only wearing mlp socks and I didn't want the fashion world to judge me for being a brony).  I have a friend who has only one foot, what if he decided that he was the dapperest mofo  on the planet and posted himself to lookbook?  That would be discrimination.  If they deleted his picture, I mean.  Okay, so I'm kidding.  But- fuck.  It's just such a small thing and they barely even notified me.  But I digress, it was  kind of a cheap half-assed post.  I used 200 orange translucent bubbles to cover up the fact that my photography & lighting was god-awful.  What I'm getting at here, is that I'm going to put more of my energy into this little slice of me-ness than futily throwing myself into the world of blonde girls with peter-pan collars and american apparel brogues.  This is my fashion blog.

(PS.  the quality of pictures on this entry is much better)

First of all, it's a gorgeous day.  Very sunny and bright, so that helped.  I really prided myself on picking out details here.  I've always really liked the multiple-bracelet thing since I was a punky highschooler -even though it had a reputation of only existing only so that cutters can cover their scars, it's still always been radass to me.  And the barrettes are nice, but better for the >year 5 age group when people don't actually have much hair.  I took them out after the pic 'cause they just wack everything up.

I love love these boots.  I got them at Valley Thrift in Cincinnati for only about $5, even if I did end up spending an extra $15 to get them repaired about a week ago by this funny Chinese guy.  And another detail:  The red ring.  You'll see that a lot.  I don't leave home without it.  Let's just say, that ring has been through a lot of experiences with me, and it's gotten very, very dirty.

Oh, the dress is from H&M and as cute as the layering is, it's out of necessity cause there's a snag in my dress right over the nipple.  It's not sexy.  At all. Yeah, that's my outfit.  Sorry about all of the doe-eyes that I've been making.  I guess I think I'm Zooey Deschannel or something.

1/7/13

I'm actually impressed at how this picture came out & I adore the bracelet.  However, the leggings are actually very glittery and shimmery.  I got them at H&M this summer  and was really taken back by them.  They're shocking!  But are moreso in real-life.

The detail of the leggings are obviously better in the second picture and those shoes are so so great!  I realize that the tennis shoes/ wedges combo is not really utilitarian but still, adore!  I wanted them for years and just found them at an after-christmas sale.  So great!

Introduction/Hello!

Hi Everyone!
My name's Abby.

See this is me right here^.^

I'm a person, that should be evident, and I'm also a design and fashion obsessive and a student starting in journalism this year at my university.

I really don't think that is a very, erm, exhaustive description of me but it's all you really need to know for this blog (I don't tell you that I eat a lot of dried fruit, that my favorite shows are futurama, arrested development and firefly, that I'm superr perverted, or that I was an anarchist in high school... what do you need to know those things for?).  This is going to be the main hub for my fashion fixation!  I have a lookbook, and you might also catch me being all weird on tumblr, but if you want to fall victim to all of my narcissism & to my fabulous self-portraits this is the place!

if I'm going to blog about fashion, I might as well tell you about me and the relationship I have with fashion and design---
  • Punk Rock has a firm place in my heart.  I'm still angsty on the inside.  One of the biggest academic achievements, in my life (in my mind) was this presentation I made on punk rock senior year of high school.  Yes, I love Vivienne Westwood.  Yes, I am a poser and I don't care (X-Ray Spex).  No, don't let anyone tell you punk isn't about fashion. In a big way, punk is about the aesthetic of shock value and the statement that DIY ethos makes.
  • Since I was 10 years old, Harajuku style and decora has been my life-force.  I just got the book Fruits off of Amazon this past summer and it is one of my most valued possessions.
  • I think of myself as a free-spirit.  I've always loved bohemian style as it captures my soul.
  • The 60's and the 70's have a clear influence on my style.  I have infinite love for Mod fashion and design.  Of course, sometimes I can be a bit of a hippy, too.  The biggest design inspiration that has come to me via film was in Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, the color, sex, and the surrealism of that movie captured me and excited me just as much as the flawless theological philosophy behind the book.
